The Danone Inc. Company ("Danone"), Canadian manufacturer of DANONE® brand yogurt as well as other brands of dairy products such as ACTIVIA®, SILHOUETTE® yogurt, PETIT DANIMALS® fresh cheese and drinkable yogurt, has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and usage practices for the Danone Web site, www.activia.ca.
This Web site does not offer the ability to site visitors to post personal information or personally-identifiable information. It collects personal information only from site visitors who send e-mails to us and forwards that information to various third parties who provide marketing research, customer service and Web-related services. We use the information consumers send us in e-mails in order to reply to those consumers and retain it securely as part of our third-party consumer affairs database. Danone analyzes the data consumers send to us in e-mails for marketing and quality assurance purposes, but does not rent, sell or distribute personally-identifiable information to third parties other than as described above.
As noted above, Danone does not collect any personal information about you during your visit to this Web site unless you provide that information voluntarily by sending an e-mail or initiating an online transaction such as a survey, registration, sweepstakes or contest entry. You may choose not to send us an e-mail, respond to a survey or enter a sweepstakes contest. While your choice not to participate in these activities may limit your ability to receive specific services or products through this Web site, it will not prevent you from requesting services or products from Danone by other means and will not normally have an impact on your ability to take advantage of other features of the Web site, including browsing or downloading publicly-available information. If you would like to participate in Danone promotions and do not wish to enter personal information through this Web site, contact the person named at the end of this policy statement.
For each visitor to www.activia.ca, our Web server automatically recognizes and stores information such as the visitor's IP address/domain name combination, type of Web browser, computer operating system (e.g. Windows or Mac OS) and any referring Web sites. When you visit www.activia.ca, our server sends a "cookie" to your browser. Cookies are small amounts of data that our Web site sends to your computer while you are visiting the Web site. This information gets stored on your computer's hard drive and, among other things, allows our Web site to distinguish between visitors and analyze traffic patterns through Activia.ca. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your browser setting to prevent that if you do not wish to store the information on your computer. How to turn off all cookies differs for each Web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.) so you may wish to consult your browser's "Help" menu for additional information.
Danone will not collect or post personal information from children under the age of eighteen without their parent's or guardian's consent. Danone does not provide any personally-identifying information collected from children, regardless of its source, to any third party for any purpose whatsoever. When a child submits information to the Danone Web site, the child's parent or guardian receives an e-mail alerting them to the child's registration and provides instructions on how the parent could delete the child's registration, if so desired. Although children are allowed to participate in contests, if a child wins, notification and prizes are sent to the parents or guardians identified in the initial registration process. No personal information collected from children is used for any marketing or promotional purposes whatsoever, either inside or outside Danone. Danone encourages parents and guardians to spend time online with their children and to participate in the interactive activities offered on the sites.
It is not necessary for visitors to the Danone Web site to provide personal information unless they want information to be sent to them.
